OptimusImage was founded by Thomas Palmer, a career art and design director in news media. He combines experience in location and studio photography with his award-winning design background. Clients uniquely benefit from his deep understanding of imaging and design principles online and in print.

Palmer's photographic assignments have included work for the Associated Press (Kentucky), Patriot Posters (Alabama), The Auburn Plainsman (Alabama), Wide World Photos, Southern Living Magazine (Alabama), The Syracuse Newspapers (New York), Providence Journal (Rhode Island) and Huntsville Times (Alabama).

His career has spanned more than 20 years as an art director, picture editor and design director at The Charlotte Observer (North Carolina) and currently at the Times Union (Albany, New York).

His educational background includes a B.S. in economics from Auburn University and Master's degree coursework in communications photography and design at the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University. He currently teaches digital design for the Journalism Department of SUNY-Albany part-time.
